This sweet little boy got adopted into a wonderful family, and I got the opportunity to photograph him on the day of his adoption party! It was a great experience, I absolutely love photographing little kids and this little guy was just as happy as could be at the Farm at Jay Martinez park in Ft. Collins. Please scroll down to see some of my favorite photos from the day.

A Day in the Life Post
I decided to take a series of photos that depict a typical day in my life. Nothing too fancy or exciting, just a few photos from a different angle that I thought would be fun.
Morning:
I start my mornings off by feeding my cats and drinking some coffee. I do a quick scroll through Facebook and check my emails. Then get ready for work. I don’t have any photos of me at work, just before and after.
After Work:
Every day after work, the first thing I do when I get home is feed the cats of course. Then I go out and water the garden. Some days I go to the gym or my barre class, other days I stay home and cook dinner. Gym days really depend on how busy the work day was, some days I stay home and do yoga instead.
So there it is. My day in a nutshell. Nothing too exciting but it was kind of fun taking these photos from a different angle.
Capturing the Moment
“When it Clicks”
Life is composed of a series of moments – a finite timeline of still images that make up our lives. As a photographer, it is my job to capture these images. My job is the art of suspending time – to preserve memories that might otherwise pass us by, to be lost in the jumble of our lives never to be recalled again; to show you the importance of preserving moments in time, the little memories that blend together to make the experiences of our life. Those little glances, the smile of our loved ones, the changing of colors, the way your hair is moved by the breeze. The way you look at those you love, and the way they look at you.
A single moment can transform a life, can capture the essence of who we are, and can be left behind so that those who come after us may remember us with ease. I am here to capture these moments in time, those pivotal moments, so that you and your loved ones can look back and remember in detail these times that have passed. Great times of joy, or subtle times of happiness that you may have forgotten to appreciate as you were swept away in the moment. I help to gather and preserve these fragments of time, to help piece together the best moments, for each moment tells a tale – when we gather enough of these moments, the story of a life can be told.
Special thanks to Jarrett for helping me come up with this when I had writer’s block and for helping me make it better and blog-worthy.
An Exercise in Boudoir
Recently I did a boudoir photo shoot for one of my best friends as a wedding gift to her. It was only my third ever boudoir photo shoot ever and I think I rocked it. Well, she and I both rocked it. I learned a lot of tricks of the trade since my last one and I learned a lot of new things this time. It was a great experience for the both of us.
It was such a positive experience for me as a photographer because I got to try something new and learn some new posing techniques and post processing techniques as well. I found out a lot of what angles work really well and what don’t work well at all. I got to practice posing a little bit. Usually when I take photos, I just go for it. I like to take more natural photos but when it comes to boudoir, the client usually needs to be posed. I learned some new techniques in Lightroom when I was processing her photos as well. It’s always a good thing to learn new things in both the session itself and post processing to continue to grow as a photographer.
It was also a positive experience for my friend because I got a chance to make her feel beautiful and sexy. It made me feel good to make her feel good. She got a chance to forget about all the stress in life and just let go and get some photos taken. It was a fun experience that made us both feel good about life.
When I gave her the photos, she was very happy with them. She kept saying things like “ooh I like this one!”, “this one is really pretty!”, and “I look sexy!” I was quite proud of myself and this photo shoot. (I wish I could share some of the photos I took, but they’re for her and her husband’s eyes only, you’ll just have to take my word for it.)
I really enjoyed making my friend feel beautiful the week before her wedding. It was awesome being able to make her forget about all the stress and stuff that comes with planning a wedding and all the things still not crossed off the to-do list. I feel like when you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed, the best thing you can do is spend some time with a friend doing something fun. Doing something that makes you feel good is so important in this life. We get so caught up in our day-to-day lives, stresses, work, kids, etc. that we forget about taking care of ourselves.
This boudoir experience was a positive experience for me as a photographer and a woman. I feel like making other women feel beautiful and sexy, whatever that means to you, is important. Women today need to focus more on building each other up and making each other happy.
